Laser Spider Vein Treatment
Many people live with visible leg veins, which make them feel embarrassed to wear shorts, skirts, and swimsuits.
Similar to varicose veins, spider veins differ in size (being smaller). They are often red or blue and are closer to the surface of the skin as compared to varicose veins. They can have the appearance of tree branches or spider webs with their short jagged lines. Spider veins can be found on the legs and face. They can cover either a very small or very large area of skin.
In the past, this problem could only be solved through surgery and procedures that are often painful; with the innovations in technology those days are over.
East Side Laser Center uses the Palomar Lux1O64 Laser for the most comfortable and effective leg and spider vein treatment in Pittsburgh. Its non-invasive laser pulses cause unsightly vessels to fade from view in a few treatments or less.
To remove the leg veins, the vessels must be constricted. The 1064nm wavelength laser sends energy into the blood and vessel walls, where it is absorbed by hemoglobin. The hemoglobin is heated by the absorption of energy, and the vessel coagulates and closes off. The constricted vessel then degenerates, making the visible leg veins disappear from the surface of the skin.
You can expect a mild sunburn-like sensation, possibly accompanied by some minor swelling after treatment. This usually lasts 2-24 hours, and can be soothed with cold gel or ice packs.
